Your Guide to Inner Peace.
Hi again! I wanted to write a little piece about Tranquillity. It's our final pathway with LSC because we recognise that this mind-set is what most people are searching for. To us, Tranquillity means being true to yourself, finding gratitude in every day, and maintaining your best well-being.
Read ahead to get tips and strategies that will help your find your own tranquil mind and navigate the challenges of life with greater ease.
1. Practice Mindfulness.
Mindfulness seems to be the key to everything with mental health. Mindfulness means paying attention to the present moment without judgement. Regular mindfulness practices can help you be more aware of your own thoughts and emotions and allow your to manage them effectively. Keep in mind, it's takes PRACTICE. Start small, with taking 5 minutes to focus on what's going through your mind during a quiet moment. With time and practice, you will find you're in tune with your inner thoughts and emotions and are able to respond to them with calmness, ultimately reducing stress.
2. Practice Gratitude.
Gratitude is a powerful antidote to stress and anxiety. Take a moment each day (maybe at the end of the day, with your partner or in a journal) to reflect on the things you're grateful for, no matter how small they may seem. Personally, I have a ritual of asking "what was your favourite part of the day?" that reminds me to reflect on what I'm grateful for each night.
3. Connect With Nature.
Spending time in nature is incredibly soothing. If you're lucky enough to live in southern WA, Springtime brings a lush greenness all around us. There are so many great camping and outdoor spots to spend time in. But it can be as simple as going to your local park, for a walk, picnic, time with the family or by yourself. A hike in the woods, or simply sitting by the ocean, nature has a way of grounding us and helping us find inner peace. Make an effort to connect with the natural world around you, pay attention to the sounds and sensations of nature, even if it's just for a few minutes each day.
"When things change inside you, things change around you."
4. Declutter your Life.
A messy physical space often leads to a messy mind. (This is different from maximalist living, a trend that we love!). A place for everything and everything in it's place. Organising your surroundings can bring a sense of order to your mind. This can also apply to spring cleaning other areas of your life as well. Have you noticed the people in your life, and if they're cluttering your mind or adding to it? This leads us to our next tip...
5. Setting Boundaries.
Simply put, boundaries are your Thoughts, Wants and Needs on any given situation. What do you Think a good friend is? What do you Want from a good friend? What do you Need from a good friend? Excellent, you've created a boundary for friendship. Now, are there friends in your life who cross these lines and cause you heartache or stress? It might be time to re-evaluate that friendship.
Boundaries are crucial to inner peace. It's OK to prioritize your well-being and not overextend yourself. Setting boundaries in your personal and professional life can reduce stress and create space for self care.
Setting boundaries where none have existed before can be hard, which is why your LSC Counsellor is here to support and guide you through this process.
6. Embrace Self Care.
Self care is not selfish. It's essential to maintaining not only tranquillity in your life, but the key to your well-being. Bring mindfulness into self-care to find moments of nourishing your mind, body and soul in your daily routine. This can include activities like reading a book, taking a bath, practicing yoga, going for a walk or bike ride, or simply spending downtime with loved ones. The key is to do what makes YOU happy.
7. Let go of Perfectionism.
Perfectionism can be a major source of stress and anxiety for a lot of people. No one is perfect, and if it looks like they are, they're most likely faking it! Embrace imperfections, it's what make life unique to you. Focus on the process rather than the outcome. (Big "it's about the journey not the destination" vibes).
8. Seek Support.
Sometimes, finding or coming back to your tranquil mind may require the help of a trained counsellor. If you're struggling with persistent stress, anxiety, or other emotional challenges, don't hesitate to seek professional support. Your mental health is a priority. Feeling well in this life is your right and LSC is here to support you in achieving this.

Maintaining a tranquil mind in today's busy world is a journey that requires commitment and self-compassion. By incorporating some of these tips you can create a path to inner peace. Remember, finding tranquillity is a personal and ongoing process, and with time and dedication, you can achieve a greater sense of calm and fulfilment in your rich and meaningful life.
